Get Real with Unique Content in Marketing
Here is something I sent to our writing team today:
I justed wanted to make the point that the unique content articles and blog posts we write are essential elements in creating sales for the customer that owns the website for which we are writing. I really like it when I hear back from the SEO company I work with that their customer has commented they have so much new business from the website we did for them they had to hire more staff to handle the volume of incoming calls. (This customer just signed up for a second website yesterday, which means you and I just landed a new paying contract.)
The information we provide through the unique content we write makes the first impression on a reader and makes or breaks a sale.
The bottom line is that we, as writers must keep this in mind at all times when creating the unique content. We have to make it real and applicable for the reader. We have to talk to their situation and create a real image in their minds where they see themselves already with the product, reaping the benefits of the product. Use words to help them feel the difference. Infer the assumption that they already have the product. Talk to them using terms of present time. Once they get a taste (a feeling) for how it satisfies a need they had, their interest will skyrocket. That’s when we tell them who, where and how to purchase the product right now.
The more skilled we are at doing this, the more sales will result for the website owner. Their sales stats go up, they are happier than ever with the website we built for them, our reputation as marketing writers goes up and our stats go up because we sell more of our unique content writing services. That’s how we stay viable as writers.

Advice for Unique Content Writers
Here are some things I have learned about writing unique content for websites that may help you….
The balance between creating a keyword rich article and valuable information is a constant challenge when writing unique content for the internet. We have to make sure the keyword is there enough times for the search engines to find the website, but with millions of other websites out there on the world wide web, the unique content must be compelling enough to make people want to stay and read more. The longer a person stays on a website because of the quality of the information, the more likely they are to buy a product or service from that website. The unique content must offer a solution to their problem, put you (the owner of the website) in the position of being the authority and therefore a trustworthy source, and it must be REAL to the reader.
In other words, the unique content needs to talk directly to them about their real life situations and what you can do to make it better for them. Put yourself in the shoes of the readership for a moment and consider what you would like to be said to you in a given situation. What would strike a chord in you and convince you that this company has what you need? What unique content would resonate strongly enough with you to make you pay your hard-earned money for the product or service offered on this website? Does it appear the company that owns this website understands your personal or business issues and do you believe they can help you?
The end result for a website offering products and services is customers. As writers of unique content we need to keep this in mind – our words must be a constant nudging of the readers toward becoming customers. We have to be able to convince them in the first couple sentences that we understand their problem and we have their solution. As they continue to read our unique content, they must begin to feel relief because they know they can trust us to make it better for them. When the words in our unique content have conveyed this message and they begin the process of coverting from a visitor to a customer, we have done our job well.

Superior Unique Content Makes You the Authority
Using a well-planned search engine optimization (SEO) and search engine marketing (SEM) strategy with unique content written for that purpose will get masses of visitors to your website. Once they land on your page the goal is to keep them on your website as long as possible. One of the factors that influences the level of “stickiness” on your site is the quality of your unique content.
Keep in mind that there are thousands and sometimes millions of websites on the World Wide Web that a person could click on when they do a search in for example, Google, MSM or Yahoo. They are looking for information, products and services. They may click on the link to your website because you have an excellent keyword focused page that makes it show up high in the search engines. The unique content on the rest of your site needs to be relevant to the topic that person just came to you to read about.
Top quality information presented in well-written unique content will inspire your audience to stay on your site and read more. The longer they stay on your site, the more exposure they have to what you are selling. If you offer them unique content that gives then thorough answers to their questions, their level of trust in you as an authority on the subject increases. They are more inclined to buy from a source they trust.
Not only that, but the search engines love unique content that allows your site to be recognized as the authoritative source on a particular subject or niche. If your site is full of filler material used to slam the pages with keywords, you’ll get a “thumbs down” from the search engines. You must offer superior unique content that provides your readers with valuable substance, a reason to stay longer and return often.

Unique Content on Sniper Blogs
Sniper blogs are websites designed with unique content to target a niche market. A niche market is a carefully pinpointed market segment. A sniper blog is not intended to attract a broad audience. It is intended to offer a product or service to a select demographic group. This means that the sniper blog must include content that:
- Meets the unique market needs of your market segment
- Uses the “hot buttons” that appeal to your market segment
For the internet, this translates into selecting the appropriate keyword to use in the unique content for your sniper blog. The more specific you are with choosing a keyword that appeals to your unique market segment, the more successful your sniper blog will be in terms of attracting the type of traffic you are seeking and placement in the search engines. Keep in mind that .com and .net URLs work best with sniper blogs.
To determine your niche markets, break your broad demographic audience into as many subcategories as possible and this will show you the various core groups that make up your broad audience. Choose a keyword that is appropriate for one of your core audiences. You can have as many sniper blogs as you have core audiences.
Technically a sniper blog acts like a website, but as a marketing tool it is similar to a “lost leader” type promotion conducted by a retail grocer. The grocer will advertise sale prices on certain products to entice customers into the store, because they know that once the customer is in the store, he or she will buy more than the advertised items and it will encourage repeat business. A sniper blog attracts traffic looking for a specific type of product or service, but it then directs that traffic to your main website where all of your related products and services are clearly offered.
In the technical sense, a sniper blog needs to be handled with the same type of marketing tools used to promote a regular website, including unique content. Each sniper blog is subject to many variables that affect its position in the search engines. Some sniper blogs show up very quickly in the top pages of the search engines, while others take require more effort. The more unique your keyword is the better will be your results. The tools used for promoting a sniper blog will help it to move more quickly to top positions in the search engines and will help drive more traffic to your main website. Once it has reached the search engine placement you are seeking, it normally requires the implementation of website marketing tactics to hold the position.
It is a fact that the general broadness of your “web presence” affects how much traffic you get and therefore sales you achieve through internet marketing efforts. A sniper blog expands your web presence with unique content and helps you capture more of the market share. A sniper blog is not intended to be the end point for your audience. It is a “landing page” that directs the visitors to your main product website where they can be converted into a customer. The sniper blog offers links to your main website that either gives the visitor more information before moving them to a sale or moves them directly to a sale.

Unique Content for Landing Pages
One of the greatest things you can do if you have a website is post articles, ads and snippets of information about your business or organization in as many places as you can on the internet. Every place you leave a link back to your website can direct potential customers to your site for years to come. Just make sure that the link you leave behind takes a web surfer to the correct page on your site. The page that shows up when they click on your link is called a “landing page”. This page needs to contain the information you advertised would be there.
Nothing is more frustrating than clicking on a link embedded in some content that takes you somewhere you don’t want to go. For example, your read a great article online that talks about the health benefits of a certain brand of vitamin supplement and you become interested in buying it. You click on the link offered in the article, but when the page opens you can find nothing that mentions that supplement. If you scroll around on the age for a while you might find a link that mentions the company’s products. By then you are annoyed and leave the website. The company that owns the website just lost your sale.
You have to detertmine when you are leaving links to your site out in the internet universe exactly what you intent for people that click on the link to do when they get there. If you are selling a product, you better have all the product details and ordering information right in their face. Keep in mind that each time your audience has to click on another link to get what they want, you lose at least half of it. People that surf the net expect instant gratification and will leave your website if the information they want is not instantly evident.
Your landing page needs to include unique content that gives your audience the information they went there for in the first place, and it needs to be laid out in an easy to follow format with “calls to action”. This is how you convert a visitor into a sale.
